APPLE PICKING AT DOWNY’S FARM

It’s almost fall time and with that comes so many festive activities! One of my favourite things to do during this time is apple picking! I am lucky enough to live near a few different orchards, one of the best is at Downy’s Farm in Brampton, Ontario!

They do have peak hours that are quite busy, but the best time to visit is usually midday on a weekday! When we visited we had many lanes and types of apples that were ready for picking! There were gala, honey-crisp, cortland, empire, and more! There are some other types still yet to be ready in early October!

There were two options when buying the required bags for the apples, there was a 10 pound plastic bag option and a 20 pound cloth bag option! Due to us not wanting to pick too many apples, we went with the 10 pound bag option!

When we visited, it was not very busy at all and the grounds were very clean! We started in the lanes that were the closest to the entrance, these lanes had gala apples and the trees were on the smaller side in this area! This is definitely a kid-friendly section, and the apples are smaller and really pretty!

We made our way down the lanes and picked the different types of apples that were available! There were many ladders available, these could be moved and used to pick the hard to reach apples at the top of the tree!

This visit was so amazing and apple picking is always such a fun activity!
