VISITING ILLUMI – A DAZZLING WORLD OF LIGHTS –  IN MISSISSAUGA

Last night I visited the world’s largest light and sound multimedia show and it did not disappoint! You need to purchase tickets and I would recommend doing this online before going as they are $5 more at the gate and you’re not guaranteed a ticket! You’re able to book online up to even a few hours before! I booked for the 9:30pm slot, which is the final time of the night,  because I was thinking that it would be busy, I was absolutely wrong! There were so many people but due to them limiting the amount of people in each slot it was super crowded, and you were still able to be comfortable!

As soon as you walk in, there is a path that leads you to the ticket booth, they check our tickets and you immediately walk into the sight of the giant LED tree! It is breathtaking and such an amazing way to start the Illumi Journey through 12 amazing sections!

TUNNEL OF LOVE

You continue the path and walk towards your right, there are signs guiding you where to go and you start at the Tunnel of Love. It is a half moon type of dome that is lit up with red and pink lights, it’s 65-meters long and is just beautiful when you walk through it! This spot in particular can get a little crowded because it is confined to the tunnel space but nevertheless it’s a gorgeous walk-through!

THE CRAZY BOULEVARD

Next, you walk into the section called The Crazy Boulevard! This is like an amazing mashup of culture and Hollywood! There is an amazing showcase of large light-up shoes, sunglasses, houses and so much more! It is also interactive with music so some lights move to the music being played!

THE HAPPIEST FARM

The next section is the epitome of fall, and it’s quite fitting that I visited on the first day of fall! The trees in this section are so beautiful, the colours are stunning and completely transports you, the large LED maple trees are totally a standout item but the light up pumpkins are also a great photo op! There is also a light up barn with LED cows and chickens!

THE LAND OF FROST

This has to be one of my favourites, the entrance to The Land of Frost is stunning, it is made up of white string lights and has such a beautiful walkway into this section! There are reindeer, huge snowflakes, snowmen and much more! I know it’s a little early to indulge in the winter festivities but this exhibit will definitely put you in the right spirits!

THE EUROPEA PLACE

This section has an amazing merry-go-round right in the middle, it’s draped with string lights and amazing gold accents, and music! There is quite a bit of a line to ride the merry-go-round so be prepared to wait! This section was too big compared to the others but it was definitely impactful and understated yet beautiful!

THE COLOURFUL ANIMAL KINGDOM

You are immediately transported as soon as you step foot into this area, it is so bright, so colourful and larger than life! From the trees, to the light up giraffes, zebras and so much more, this exhibit is so wonderful, it really incorporates colour, light and fun all in one place!

A KID’S PARADISE

This is a light up candyland of sorts, with large lollipops, cakes, candycanes, and a bunch of other treats, this section is sure to make just a tiny bit hungry! It is also absolutely targeted towards kids, with the interactive nature of being able to walk down a lollipop and candy path and have it led into a shop of sorts, it’s really nice!

THE INFINITE POLES

This is a play on the arctic poles and has many elements that go along with that theme! Such as really cute light up penguins that cascaded around the grounds, as well as many igloos that you’re able to sit or walk inside of and take great photos!

THE MAGIC LANTERNS

The two large dragons that greet you at the entrance are stunning, you get to walk through bamboo shoots and admire light up pandas and structures, as well as be transported to a time with emperors and soldiers! Not to mention the amazing koi fish and flowers!

THE CAVALIA HORSES

This was my absolute favourite section, it is the last on your illumi journey but it is so worth the walk! You get to experience a herd of 200 LED horses as well as a stunning light and water display, it is so graceful!

THE ILLUMI TREE OF LIGHTS AND ITS VILLAGE

Finally, after about an hour of walking through magnificent light and sound exhibits we are back where we started at the Illumi tree! This tree is as tall at the Statue of Liberty and is lit up in so many different ways!

This was such an amazing experience, it was a long and fantastic walk, I forgot to mention that the size of the illumi exhibits are the length of about 10 football fields! But it is such an awesome family or friends activity and definitely something you should do this year before it leaves in January! Book your tickets here : https://mississauga.illumi.com/

Sincerely, Celine!
